breaking... Experienced marketer and veteran of Olympic Park and City Hall is back on the market.

PRESS RELEASE

EMBARGO UNTIL AUGUST

KEY BENEFITS

  • Experienced veteran of a seemingly unexplainable mix of private and public sector marketing departments, including Keuhne + Nagel, Wolters Kluwer, The Olympic Park (LLDC), the GLA (based in City Hall), the NHS and many others.
  • Practical:  Can programme ads in Meta, Google and Twitter.  Enjoys creating (on his GoPro) and editing content.
  • Believes in brand diagnosis, strategic thinking (segmenting into many audiences) and copying tactics from Dan Kennedy and Russel Brunson books.  Keen interest in how behavioural science interlopes with these practices.

KEY FEATURES

  • Starting mid-August, Ben Spiller will be available for marketing manager opportunities.
  • He is currently Communications and Liaison manager at Royal Docks Team based at City Hall (a vague title that allows him to get involved in everything).
  • He hasn’t caught any of the work/life balance stuff that’s been going around and enjoys going into the office.

MEDIA

Watch Spiller star in a (viral campaign) for Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Watch Spiller do the world’s second tallest bungee jump (he was terrified).

SOCIAL PROOF

Leaving card from his former employer.

Read about Spiller in article about being Young Enterprise mentor (page 11).

NOTES TO RECRUITERS

Ben Spiller is good at – and actually enjoys - programming digital ads.  He once got his father’s dusty old WW2 manuscript into the Amazon 20 for military History.  According to reports, his father did not remain humble once he’d tasted fame.

FUN FACTS

Spiller once created ads for the biggest screen in Europe (London Stadium).

Spiller has invented a type of tray that has a handle that slots onto a wine bottle.  It’s not yet sold any units, but he never stops talking about it.

Read an article about Spiller turning a public toilet into a take-away (TLDR: it was a disaster):

SPILLER’S 6 COMMANDMENTS OF MARKETING

1. The best way to get what you want is to deserve it.

2.  Strategy is about figuring out where to apply energy and resources in a way that will provide disproportionate gains.  All tactics should come from that.

3. The Lollapalooza effect works.  Multiple touch-points (both brand and direct Calls to Action) are much more powerful than just one touch-point.

4. Putting together incredible offer will always improve sales numbers.

5. Content is the gateway drug to sales

6. When it comes to brand, nothing need be tested, when it comes to direct marketing, everything should be tested.

BIO

Following an early mid-life crisis in 2016 and 5 years sporadically travelling the world (visiting over 20 countries), Spiller has settled down in East London, where he enjoys buying things on eBay and watching a seemingly endless list of box sets (such as Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Love is Blind, Married at First Sight, and, particularly Mad Men) with his girlfriend.

Spiller did eventually jump the tallest bungee in the world, after much deliberation.
